National Business Development Manager

Location:                          Hybrid / Bournemouth, Dorset

Hours:                                8:30am – 5pm Monday – Friday 

Salary:                               Up to £59,000 + up to 30% Bonus & Company car!

Are you a commercially astute sales professional who excels at navigating complex, long-term sales cycles? We are representing a leading European supplier of workplace equipment and solutions to find a new Business Development Manager for their UK strategic team.

 

This is a rare opening created by an internal promotion, meaning you will not only be hunting for new strategic partnerships but also inheriting a significant portfolio of existing high-value accounts. Our client is a purpose-driven organisation with a deep commitment to sustainability and CSR, offering a stable yet dynamic environment for a true “value-based” salesperson.

 

The Role:

 

This isn’t just about shifting products; it’s about understanding the “decision-making matrix” of major B2B organisations. You will be targeting large-scale end users, managing sales cycles that range from three months to several years.

Your key focus will involve:

  • Strategic Prospecting: Identifying and winning new partnerships with large commercial entities across the UK.
  • Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Negotiating framework agreements and commercial terms with Procurement, Estates, and Facilities Managers.
  • Value-Based Selling: Moving away from “price-only” discussions to demonstrate long-term operational benefits, safety improvements, and total cost of ownership.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Working closely with an internal Account Management team and directing two externally based Territory Sales Managers who will support your strategy on-site.
  • Multi-Channel Outreach: Utilising trade shows, events, and modern outreach tools to build a robust pipeline.

 

What We’re Looking For

 

We want to hear from individuals who are naturally inquisitive and take the time to truly understand how a customer’s operation works.

  • Proven B2B Success: Significant experience in new business sales, ideally within distribution, industrial supplies, or complex workplace solutions.
  • The “Value” Mindset: A track record of winning business based on impact and solution-alignment rather than just being the cheapest bid.
  • Commercial Rigour: Comfortable using CRM data to plan, prioritising activity, and reporting on pipeline progress.
  • Relationship Builder: The ability to converse with everyone from front-line operational staff to C-suite procurement leads.
  • Mobility: You must hold a full UK driving license and be comfortable with extensive national travel, balanced with 1–2 days at the head office.
